Beethoven is the last of his siblings to get his own post — not because we forgot him, but because he always knew how to wait. He was always the calmest one. He never sought attention; he knew his turn for food would come and waited patiently in his little corner. He knew it would be time for his walk and would sit quietly on his blanket.

He’s the dog we talk about when welcoming new dogs into the shelter: “Put them next to Beethoven.” His calmness reassures them. His presence makes them feel safe.

And yet, the moment you give him a little attention, his puppy heart shines through. He runs with joy, his ears flapping, coming over for cuddles because he knows that this moment belongs to him. He knows he was patient — and now it’s his turn.

Through us, he is learning about the world around him. The look in his eyes when he sees something new is unique; he has the innocence of a puppy and the curiosity to discover what lies beyond his kennel.

He is a quiet dog who has always put others first, because deep down he believes that one day someone will look at him too.

He loves people, food, his friends with whom he plays endlessly, his little blanket… And at night, when it’s time to sleep, he rests peacefully, because he knows that tomorrow someone will come to give him a gentle stroke.

Beethoven is waiting. Not with complaint — but with hope.
